Wigan manager Roberto Martinez was disappointed with his side's defending after the Latics fell to a 3-2 loss to Swansea at the DW Stadium in their English Premier League game.
The loss pushed Wigan closer to relegation, with the F.A. Cup finalists three points adrift of safety with just two games remaining in the Premier League season.
Wigan took the lead twice through Roger Espinoza and James McCarthy, only for Angel Rangel and Itay Schechter to equalize for Swansea. Dwight Tiendalli then popped up with the winner 14 minutes from time to consign Wigan to a heartbreaking loss.
"Everything was under control with our first half performance," Martinez, whose side will face Manchester City in the F.A. Cup final at Wembley on Saturday, said.
"We were performing really well, but then in the second half with the goal that we give away, from that point on it becomes a very, very difficult game.
"We have so many injuries at the back and today that showed too much. We conceded sloppy goals with bad decisions. That is very unfortunate because you could see the effort of the players and the commitment and desire in wanting to win the game.
"You always get situations in games where you can recover. Emotionally today was such an important game for us, playing at home, that it becomes a difficult performance. When you make a mistake in that manner it becomes a bigger mountain to climb.
"What we must do is make sure we get ready for the next two games that we have got in the league and make sure we get everyone as recovered as we can.
"The team is ready to bounce back and make sure we take the opportunities over the final two games. We have got incredible character and we are determined to fight for every single point that is left.
"There are six points there to fight for and we need to make sure we can learn from this for the final game of the season.
"We have to accept nothing went our way and we need to make sure we turn it around quickly for the final two games."
Swansea manager Michael Laudrup was pleased with the manner in which his side fought back in the second half.
"I think in the first half we tried to play but we just stood there," he said. "Of course when you concede a goal in the last second of the first half, it is a bad moment. But we had a very, very good reaction in the second half.
"The game was way, way too important for Wigan to be good. But the reaction was good to score three goals in a special game.
"I am pleased winning a game after a couple of months of draws and losses and now I really think it is possible to end in the top 10.
"Together with the trophy we all know we won, it could end up being a really amazing season."
