Oakland Raiders Rumors: Josh Cribbs Visits Team As Former Cleveland Browns Returner Could Sign With New York Jets, Giants or Detroit Lions

Former Cleveland Browns kick returner and wide receiver Josh Cribbs has recovered from offseason knee surgery and is now ready to sign with another NFL team and one option that is a good fit could be the Oakland Raiders.

Cribbs is a kick return specialist and the Raiders love having fast players while they also could use him as a backup for wide receiver Jacoby Ford, who will likely get more work during offensive snaps with the departure of Darrius Heyward Bey. Cribbs originally was close to signing a deal with the Arizona Cardinals earlier in the offseason, but the team backed away after they felt he wasn't fully recovered from a torn meniscus in his knee.

Cribbs visited with the Raiders and the ESPN report says that four teams are interested in signing the returner. Domenik Hixon was a potential target for the team earlier in free agency, but he signed with the Carolina Panthers instead. Cribbs will be 30-years-old during next season and he could contribute a bit on offense as well, as he had 41 catches two seasons ago as Cleveland tried to integrate him more into the offense.

Some other teams that are interested in Cribbs includes the New York Jets, Detroit Lions and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have made a number of moves this offseason, including trading for cornerback Darrelle Revis and safety Dashon Goldson. The Lions could be in the market for Cribbs after letting Stefan Logan go, while the Buccaneers lost out on Leon Washington to the New England Patriots.

The Cardinals may have still been in the market for Cribbs once he got healthy, but after drafting Tyrann Mathieu they likely won't have interest in bringing him in. Mathieu was a dynamic returner in college at LSU and the team also has his former teammate returning punts with Patrick Peterson, who has already had a number of explosive touchdown returns in his career.
