Manchester United Transfer News: Baines and Fellaini Could Be Old Trafford Bound in the Summer as Moyes Targets Raid on Everton

Once David Moyes was appointed Manchester United manager on a six-year deal following Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to retire at the end of the season, it was inevitable that some of the quality Everton players would be linked with a summer move to Old Trafford.

Expectedly, the two names that are being linked with a switch to Manchester United in the summer transfer window are Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini, with the English Premier League champions ready to make a combined £39 million ($60 million) swoop, according to the Sun.

Baines was heavily linked with United last summer, with several reports suggesting Sir Alex Ferguson had made him the No.1 priority.

However, a move never materialized and Baines again went on to have a great season with Everton, making the PFA team of the year.

With Patrice Evra set to turn 32 in a few days, United could do with another experienced left-back in their ranks, as Alexander Buttner has far from convinced and could be set for a loan move in the summer.

Moyes will know Baines as well as anyone, and the manager will easily be able to tempt the England international to move to United, with the club reportedly ready to table a bid in the region of £15 million ($23 million).

The soon-to-be United manager can do the same for Fellaini as well, with United in definite need of a physical presence in midfield.

Although Moyes prefers to play Fellaini in an advanced role, the Belgian international fill fit in just as well in midfield alongside Michael Carrick.

Reports persist over Fellaini having a release clause of around £24 million ($37), and if United can do business at that amount it will certainly be seen as a good investment, while also bringing Moyes some familiarity to his new surroundings.

Meanwhile, former Everton midfielder Kevin Kilbane has said Moyes is just as capable of handing out the hairdryer treatment made so famous by Ferguson.

"Moyes has an industrial-strength hairdryer," Kilbane said. "There have been times when he had a go at me. We have had cross words.

"But he has done it to a lot of better players than I was and on regular occasions.

"He can produce tirades that would match Fergie. He has also got an icy stare."

Kilbane also had no doubts Moyes can manage the superstar lineup at United. "When he left Preston to go to Everton, that was a huge step up for him," Kilbane added. "He probably learnt from the experiences of dealing with the type of player he had at Preston to dealing with Premier League players.

"Top players want a successful team and successful manager and I'm sure the United players will recognise that in him -- he's just a born winner.

"If you are looking for an all-round package of a cultured manager, David Moyes is that.

"He is very hands-on on the training ground. He can motivate and he can coach. Tactically, he is astute. In fact, he has got everything."
