Bryce Harper is one of the most exciting players in baseball and his hustle in the field and on the base paths is something for all young players to envy, but sometimes it can also be painful, as it was on Monday night when he crashed into the outfield scoreboard against the LA Dodgers.
Harper got 11 stitches on his chin following the crash, which happened in the fifth inning of the Nationals 6-2 victory over the Dodgers. Harper hit the wall hard and hurt his chin and shoulder but he did not suffer a concussion and the team started off right o its 10 game road trip starting in Los Angeles. After the game he avoided reporters and the play had him going face first into the wall after looking for a ball hit by AJ Ellis.
Harper's hat went flying and he never saw the wall coming as he tracked the ball and Ellis ended up with a triple while Harper went right down to the ground. Harper laid down on the ground after the play and there was a nice amount of blood dripping down his neck, but he was able to walk off on his own and his teammates said that he probably will want to play the next game no matter what.
Harper previously hit the wall in Dodger Stadium last year in just his second game, but it wasn;t nearly as bloody.
