Tennessee Titans Rumors: Jake Locker Looks To Improve At OTA Workouts As Ryan Fitzpatrick Has Chance To Start? Chris Johnson Thankful For Chance Warmack

The Tennessee Titans have not been good for a while and this season could be a fundamental one in the future of the franchise, as quarterback Jake Locker will get a full shot at taking the team to the playoffs from day one of the season.

Locker was selected two years ago in the first round and as offseason workouts and training camp gets closer, the quarterback will have to deal with expectations in his development. According to Pro Football Talk, Locker is ready to get better and he said to the NFL Network that he is working on being more consistent and will be focusing on that this season. Locker had to deal with shoulder surgery after last season and said he is fully healed and should have no issues going forward over the summer.

The Titans have had 11 games where Locker has started and even though they only won four of them, they feel he is the future of the franchise. The team signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to be his backup, but in case he gets injured again or is ineffective, he could end up being the starter at some point during the year. Fitzpatrick was previously with the Buffalo Bills, but the team cut him after a tough couple of seasons despite him having a six year deal and he now will serve as the backup for Locker.

He went just 20-33 as a starter over four years and despite his six-year, $59 million contract extension he was let go. Fitzpatrick put up solid numbers over the years, but he never could be consistent enough and threw for 80 touchdowns and 64 interceptions during his time with the team and he threw for 23 interceptions in 2011, his worst stats of his career,

Chris Johnson expects the offense to work better as well, as the team selected offensive guard Chance Warmack from Alabama and he greeted that with a "thank god" on Twitter afterwards.

"I can improve in a lot of areas, and I think that first and foremost, just find a way to be consistent," Locker said. "There were a lot of third downs, situations where if we would have converted and kept drives alive it would have changed the game. A lot of times it just came down to one or two plays, and finding ways to maybe not make the flashy play, but just find a way to move the sticks."
