The city of Paris got some unwanted rioting during the Ligue 1 trophy parade for Paris Saint-Germain after more than 10,000 people came out to celebrate the victory.
According to ESPN.com, a number of fans were hospitalized after they came out to celebrate the first title in 19 years and police were forced to take action as things got out of hand. The rioting left damage around the city, including at the Trocadero, the Champs-Elysees and at the Eiffel Tower and the team condemned the actions of the trouble makers afterwards. The team also had to cancel their boat trip along the Seine after the rioting and police were forced to take action on some fans.
Many threw rocks at riot police to celebrate the first title since 1994 and the police were forced to use tear gas as well to break up the crowd. Fires and flares littered the streets and some security members were also injured.
The BBC reports that the team also would like to keep superstar David Beckham after winning the title after winning 1-0 at Lyon. The team has said that they loved having him play this year and they may offer a contract extension to him. Beckham already won the MLS title earlier last season with the Galaxy and now he has another one under his belt after playing in 13 matches with the team. He left the Galaxy for Paris after six years in the States.
"The province may have underestimated the event," Police official Fabien Vanhemelryck told RMC. "We should have expected this. We were on the same device as for returning Olympians on the Champs-Elysees.
