The New York Yankees are set to get a boost to the lineup on Tuesday night, as outfielder Curtis Granderson is set to return to the team after being on the disabled list since the beginning of the season.
The Yankees activated Granderson and sent down hot starter Vidal Nuno, who threw five shutout innings in a spot start on Monday against the Cleveland Indians. He won his first major league start and now Granderson will be back after fracturing his arm in spring training in one of the Yankees many injuries. He missed 38 games this season and he will play left field and will bat in the cleanup position.
Granderson led the team with 43 homers last season and was eight of 20 with one home run and three RBIs while rehabbing in Scranton. The former All-Star broke his forearm in spring training after getting hit with a pitch and he will bring some much needed star power back to the lineup.
The Yankees are still without a number of players, as Derek Jeter (broken left ankle), third baseman Alex Rodriguez (left hip surgery), first baseman Mark Teixeira (torn tendon sheath in his right wrist ), corner infielder Kevin Youkilis (lumbar spine sprain), catcher Francisco Cervelli (broken right hand) and shortstop Eduaro Nunez (soreness on left side) are still on the DL.
