Washington Redskins Rumors: Robert Griffin III Prepares For Wedding and 2013 Injury Comeback As Name Change Never Happening For Dan Snyder, Richmond Paper Likes Nickname

The Washington Redskins are coming off of a playoff appearance with quarterback Robert Griffin III, but as he comes back from a serious knee injury the thoughts on everyone's mind is whether he can be as good as he was last season.

Griffin has shown good progress in his comeback and while he said he should be ready for Week 1, there is still a chance that he could miss the start of the season. Griffin took the NFL world by storm last year and won Rookie of the Year as one of three rookie quarterbacks to take their teams to the playoffs and now he will be looking for more in 2013. The redskins were quiet in free agency due to penalties, but the team added talent in the draft and looks to get better after winning the NFC East last season.

One issue that had dogged the team all offseason is about the Redskins name, but owner Dan Snyder said that the team would never chance it, likely because he makes too much money off of it and he has no care that it is a racist term for Native Americans. The Redskins have also gotten petty with it, whining that there's no outrage for high school teams around the country with the name, because obviously high school teams have as much impact as an NFL franchise and if high school teams are doing it, then it should be fine. The Redskins are one of the most valuable franchises in the world and Snyder will not allow some political correctness to take any more from his pockets.

One supporter for Snyder is the Richmond Times-Dispatch, as they wrote an article saying that the name is not offensive and to prove it they got three random Native Americans to say so, because three always proves a whole group thinks that way. The Redskins will hold camp in Richmond and the article details Robert Green, chief of the Patawomeck Tribe in Virginia, saying that many of his tribe members are Redskins fans.

The article mentioned a poll that said that 79 percent nationally think "Redskins" is a fine name, but that doesn't get into any of the issues of what the name actually means, which is the way supporters and Dan Snyder like it. Either way, the team will be looking to get back to the playoffs once again and if Robert Griffin is healthy they will have a good shot to do so.
