Jacksonville Jaguars Rumors: Tim Tebow Decision Big Mistake As Gus Bradley Evaluates Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne In OTAs At Quarterback

The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the worst teams in the NFL last season after going 2-14 and after hiring a new coach and a general manager in Gus Bradley and David Caldwell, the franchise is ready to move into a new era under owner Shad Khan that has more success.

The team made some small free agent moves and sat tight and drafted lineman Luke Joeckel in the NFL draft with the second pick, giving them a cornerstone player to build around as they try and improve in the short and long term over the next few seasons. The team has repeatedly said no to the Tim Tebow option, although that would give them some excitement and maybe even the possibility of winning some games.

As much as people like to rail on Tebow for his skills as a quarterback, one thing that he has done that Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert hasn't is win games. Tebow went 7-4 as a starter in Denver and ended up leading the team to a division title and the playoffs after taking the starting job from Kyle Orton, but after getting traded to the Jets, he never got a shot to play or prove himself on the field, even though the team was awful. The Jaguars do not want to bring the sideshow in to camp, but even with the sideshow, Tebow can bring results.

While playing with Denver he won some games single handedly with his feet and his quick thinking and while the Jaguars have a plan in place for Gabbert and Chad Henne, there is also a chance that Tebow could succeed with the team anyway despite the 2-14 record. On top of that, would it be the hardest thing in the world to at least give him a shot? The fans in Florida have tried repeatedly to get it to happen, with one taking out an ad and another petitioning the White House, but so far they have not had any luck.

Currently, the Jaguars are still looking at what to do at the quarterback decision and Bradley has decided to go with Henne and Gabert on a rotating basis in OTAs, giving them each a chance with the first team offense in order to evaluate them. The team also brought in Jordan Rodgers and Matt Scott in as undrafted rookies, but they aren't likely to factor into the starting discussion. Gabbert is coming off of a season in which he dealt with injuries, while Henne was solid after coming in for him, including in one of the teams wins 24-19 over the Titans.

The start for Henne at the time was his first in over a year and he proved that he can be a solid quarterback in the league after making some nice throws and connecting with Cecil Shorts on a long touchdown. The Jags won their only home game of the season with Henne at the helm and the team showed some flashes during the year while playing against the Texans. While the staff wants to look at Henne and Gabbert, a good option could be Tim Tebow, amazingly enough.
