Tim Tebow is still a free agent and although he has received a number of offers, so far none of them have been in the NFL and one place where he may have liked to play in Jacksonville is no longer an option due to some crazy fans.
Tebow has received offers from the Canadian Football League, Arena League as well as indoor football and lingerie football and while the Jaguars of Jacksonville once appeared like a good fit, after the uproar and craziness from fans, it appears as if that will never happen. Some fans sent a petition to the White House about it, while another bought ad space and of course there is a group that made an Anti-Tebow website, making any prospect of him coming to the team almost impossible due to the attention.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, former Jaguars star Tony Boselli said in an interview on the radio that Tebow's chances of playing for his hometown Jaguars has been hurt by the "crazed" fans that have been trying to get him signed and that their actions have only hurt the quarterback and not helped. Boselli, who is also a strong religious believer, said that he wouldn't sign Tebow due to the circus, but that he deserves a fair shot away from all the crazy media attention.
Boselli said Tebow is a great person, but he feels that he can' t be a franchise quarterback and that the ad from an area lawyer and other moves have hurt any chance he has of coming back to Florida. Tebow had a rough season in New York last year before getting cut and now he has to figure out what to do next and some NFL options could be the Detroit Lions or Oakland Raiders if they are willing to take a chance, but that is unlikely.
"I like Tim and I think he's a great person, but if I were (in charge of) the Jaguars I would not do it (sign Tebow)," Boselli said the other day on our Open Mike radio show. "I wouldn't do it because of the distraction. I'm not convinced either way on whether Tim could be a franchise quarterback ... The problem is people like this lawyer (prominent Orlando attorney John Morgan, who ran a radio ad recently imploring Jaguars owner Shad Khan to sign Tebow, the media and the crazed fans who are hurting Tebow.
"What team wants to bring a guy who's a developing player onto their roster when he's going to be a complete distraction -- through no fault of his own -- and become a disruption in the locker room? It becomes all about that -- whether he (Tebow) is going to play, whether it's going to work -- and the rest of the team is saying, 'We're trying to win ballgames.' I feel bad for Tim because I don't think it's all his fault. It's outside circumstances and people who are making it tough on him."
