Los Angeles Angels Rumors: Mike Scioscia Manager Job Safe Says Owner Arte Moreno As Team Keeps Losing, But For How Long?

The Los Angeles Angels have the second worst record in the American league despite signing Josh Hamilton to a big contract in the offseason, but despite that owner Arte Moreno says that Mike Scioscia's manager job is safe, but for how long?

According to ESPN.com, Moreno said that Scioscia has no problems with his job and that after being with the team for 14 years he feels he has the right manager for the job despite the record. Scioscia won a world series with the team in the past and is considered one of the best managers in baseball, but the team has struggled mightily this season.

The Angels are 15-25 after losing to the Royals on Wednesday and if it were last year they would be in last place in the AL West and the AL, but the Astros are behind with an 11-30 record. Moreno said that chances were zero that a chance would occur this season, but that could change depending on how bad things get. Moreno also denied that the team is "reluctant" to let him go since he could end up with the Dodgers, where he won two rings. The Angels are ranked 17th in the league in scoring and 13th in batting average while they are also 13th in slugging and 19th in on base percentage.

"Mike has zero problems, OK?" Moreno told the website Wednesday at this week's owners meetings in New York. "This is his 14th year. Mike goes beyond what he does on the field. He's a good person. He's a good person in the community. A very good baseball guy. You don't have to ask me. You just ask other managers, other baseball people."
