The NBA Playoff schedule has another gap between action as Monday features no games. The Western Conference Finals took off Sunday, while the Eastern Conference Finals have yet to start. Here's a look at the week's action as the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies take the court Tuesday evening.
The Spurs have a 1-0 lead in their series after playing Game 1 on Sunday. They get their day of rest Monday and then play Game 2 in San Antonio. The Spurs will have a chance to get a 2-0 lead in the series, something they accomplished last season against the Oklahoma City Thunder, only to get bounced from the playoffs after losing the next four games of that series.
The winner of this series would go on to play the winner of the Eastern Conference Finals as the Heat and Pacers meet for the second consecutive year in the playoffs. Last year, it was a second round meeting in which the Pacers applied pressure and had the Heat sweating. The Pacers took a 1-2 lead in the series as they matched up physically versus the Heat. The Pacers toughness seemed to intimidate the Heat, but then LeBron James woke up and the rest was history as the Heat went on to play the Boston Celtics in the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals, a series they took in seven games before capturing the NBA title.
These are the four teams remaining on the 2013 NBA Playoff schedule. The Heat are the favorite to win it all, while the Pacers look to rattle them. The Spurs are more experiences than the Grizzlies. This is Memphis' first appearance in the WCF and they played like it in Game 1. The Spurs ran away with the ball game winning 105-83 as they had a huge game from beyond the arc and shot over 50 percent from the floor.
In the latter stages of the game, the Grizzlies put up a great run where they shrunk the lead to single digits after scoring 10 straight points, but the Spurs quickly put an end to that brief run with a diet of threes as they went on to hit 14 in the game.
Game 2 is on Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, while Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET from Miami.
