Tim Tebow has been out of an NFL job for weeks after being released by the Jets and after fams have petitioned to try and get him to the Jacksonville Jaguars, another famous fan has thrown his hat in for the same in Chuck Norris, who wrote in a column on WorldNetDaily that he thinks the quarterback is a fit for the team and owner Shad Khan.
According to the column on WorldNetDaily, Norris cites a number of writers and NFL journalists that say Tebow has talent and deserves a shot, as well as his work on the field for the Broncos when he led the team to a division title and a playoff win against the Steelers. He also brought up his success in high school and college in Florida and that his signing could help the Jaguars with ticket sales and fan enthusiasm. Norris finished his column with the line:"Tim Tebow is a winner - plain and simple!"
The Jets organization was never once honest with the press about what they wanted to do with Tebow or about why he was brought over in the first place. It was a Rex decision; it was a Woody decision; it was a Tannebaum decision; it was for jerseys; it was for Sanchez. None of them added up and no one was accountable and Johnson was able to get away with bringing him for jersey sales after he blamed it on Tannebaum when he fired him. Tebow is actually lucky, because if he can find a good organization to play with, it's be much better than the dysfunctional Jets anyway.
Tebow will have other offers, including from the Arena League and the CFL, but he would be wise to work on his craft and bide his time, because one team will turn the corner. The Broncos did it when they drafted Tebow in the first round and the Jets did it when they traded for him and another team will give him a chance at some point. He just might have to be patient.
Tebow has experience starting with the Broncos and went 7-5 while leading the team to an unlikely division title and playoff win, but he was traded after the team signed Peyton Manning, which proved to be an amazing decision as he led the team to the number one seed in the AFC last year. The Jets went just 6-10 last season behind Sanchez, but after getting an extra first round pick in the Revis trade, the team has a chance to drastically improve their roster with talent. The Bucs feel they are on the cusp of breaking out in 2013, while the Jets need to bounce back from a very tough season that saw the general manager fired and a number of veteran players released.
Tebow has spent most of the offseason working out around the country with coaches and other personnel, including in Florida with Chris Weinke and most recently in Tampa with Vinny Testaverde, who had a private workout with the quarterback at Jesuit High School. Tebow also spent time working in Arizona and has tried to improve his mechanics and throwing motion as he heads into next season.
