MLB Standings: Yankees, Braves, Indians, Rangers, D'Backs & Cardinals in First Place

The MLB Standings are seeing consistent teams in command of their division week after week. However, surprises are turning up in some places as both central divisions are proving competitive and the N.L. truly has a Wild West theme this season. Here are the results as baseball is soon to wrap up its second month of the season.

A.L. East: New York Yankees (27-16), Boston Red Sox (27-17)
So far, the Yankees are having no trouble substituting their injured stars. They received Curtis Granderson back from the disabled list and he's off to a slow start, as expected, going 4-15 over the last week. The Yankees are currently 7-3 in their last 10 games and bounced back to win their series against the Toronto Blue Jays after dropping two of three against the Seattle Mariners. The Yankees and Baltimore Orioles hook up for a dynamic three-game series as the orange birds trail New York by four games in the standings. The Red Sox have yet to let up and their pitching is carrying them early on in the season.

A.L. Central: Cleveland Indians (25-17), Detroit Tigers (23-19)
Everybody knows this is the Tigers' division to lose. They are having a pretty mercurial season and when your MVP hits three home runs in a game and you still can't win, it speaks volumes. The Indians are putting their offense together. Jason Kipnis is heating up and Cleveland is powering their way through the opposition. The Indians have won four straight games and are 14-4 in the month of May.

A.L. West Texas Rangers (29-15)
Many thought the Rangers were going to have trouble in 2013. Well, they are having trouble losing as the Rangers have jumped out to a 6.5 lead over the second place Oakland Athletics. They were the reason why the Tigers couldn't win after Miguel Cabrera smacked his three home runs. The Rangers have a balanced team. One day they'll beat you with their pitching while the next day they'll slug their way to a win. They are 8-2 in their last team and are one of the hottest teams in baseball. They have the best record in the majors so far.

N.L. East Atlanta Braves (25-18), Washington Nationals (23-21)
It's been a roller coaster ride for the Braves so far in 2013. Since starting the season 13-2, the Braves are 12-16. Their pitching isn't dominant, but their hitting is somewhat magical as the Braves rallied in all three games this past weekend as they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in dramatic fashion. The Nationals' inability to string together victories has kept them in second place. The Braves have a 2.5-game lead as they are still atop of their division and as Atlanta continues to get healthy, chances are their hitting is only going to get better.

N.L. Central: St. Louis Cardinals (28-15), Cincinnati Reds & Pittsburgh Pirates (26-18)
This just might be the best division in the game today. These three guys would all be in the playoffs if the season ended today, but before we talk Wild Card, let's give the Pirates some time to prove they are really serious about a postseason berth. It's only May. The Cardinals are the best team in the National League, but they're not the hottest in the division. They Pirates are winners of 8 of their last 10, while the Cards and Reds are both winners of 7 of their last 10.

N.L. West: Arizona Diamondbacks (25-19) Colorado Rockies & San Francisco Giants (24-20)
When you blink the West, another team comes out of the blue and snatches the division lead. The Giants looked ready to take their division by storm, but having lost three straight to the Rockies and the D'Backs playing better ball, San Francisco is now a game back in the West while tied for second place with the Rockies.
