NFL News And Rumors: Patriots' Rob Gronkowski Gets Good News After Forearm Surgery, Bad News Is Another Surgery May Keep Him Out For Extended Time

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski may have a good luck charm that he hides from the rest of the world, as reports indicate that he dodged a nasty infection after undergoing surgery for his left forearm yesterday.

Doctors yesterday were able to install a new plate in his surgically repaired left forearm with no indication that an infection was present.

Though he's out of the woods with his forearm concerns, the Boston Herald is reporting a new sizeable worry for the Patriots and Gronkowski to worry about. Gronkowski has been dealing with a disc problem for a least the past year, and recently underwent a MRI scan to measure the extent of the injury.

According to sources with knowledge of the situation, the possibility of surgery will be considered for the future as doctors will have to decide whether a piece of the troublesome disc needs to be removed from his back.

If that option comes to be, it will be likely performed by Dr. Robert Watkins, the same surgeon who operated on Gronkowski in 2009 for the initial back problem that lowered his draft stock.

With the high probability that Gronkowski will have to undergo surgery, the combined recovery time along with down time and rehab from the plate replacement will leave him sidelined for approximately four months, assuming there's little to no setbacks.
