The San Antonio Spurs have jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western conference finals after some fantastic play from point guard Tony Parker, but he may not be 100 percent for Game 3 on Saturday night.
According to ESPN.com, Parker will have an MRI to check out his left calf, which bothered him throughout the playoffs, although the point guard says that he will not miss any time during the series. The report says that Parker wants to make sure it isn't anything serious after it flared up during the Golden State Warriors series in the previous round. The Spurs defeated the Lakers before playing six tough games with the Warriors, which is why the injury came up again for Parker. The point guard has been the focal point of the offense for the Spurs and he had a career high 18 assists with 15 points in the Game 2 victory on Tuesday night.
The Spurs have a three day break before Game 3 in Memphis on Saturday night and that will give Parker the time to rest up and get the calf feeling right. Parker and Tim Duncan have been playing like it's five years ago and the Spurs have looked dominant throughout the playoffs. The team had a blowout win in Game 1 before the Grizzlies made a furious rally in Game 2 to force the game into overtime before they pulled out the victory.
The Grizzlies were down 2-0 in their first series against the Clippers before coming back to win and the team feels like it can do it again when the series shifts to Memphis. The Spurs dominated in the first half before the Grizzlies started their comeback, outscoring San Antonio 33-30 in the third and 21-9 in the fourth quarter to force overtime. The Grizzlies finished with a 15-2 run to erase the deficit and forced overtime, but Duncan was able to push the Spurs to the victory.
