Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano insisted the English Premier League side are not interested in signing Radamel Falcao and Neymar when the summer transfer window opens, while expressing his confidence over Sergio Aguero remaining at the Etihad for at least another season.
City are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer having gone this season without a single trophy.
Two of the most sought-after attackers in the world are Atletico Madrid striker Falcao and Neymar of Santos, with several big clubs chasing the duo's signature.
Chelsea, Real Madrid and Monaco are thought to be the frontrunners to sign Falcao, while Neymar has been heavily linked with Barcelona and Real.
Soriano vehemently denied City's interest in either of the two players.
"Neymar and Falcao? (These reports are) false, they have never been on our agenda," he is quoted as saying by Tuttomercatoweb.com.
Soriano also played down reports linking Aguero with a move away from Manchester City. "The first thing I want to emphasise is that we have never thought of selling Aguero," he added. "El Kun will be happy to stay with us this year."
Meanwhile, City defender Pablo Zabaleta, one of the few players who could hold their heads up high at the end of the season, believes keeping the "winning mentality" is key to bouncing back from a disappointing campaign.
"It is hard when you don't win trophies and when you look at the squad you probably expect to win trophies," he said.
"We missed the F.A. Cup, that was the only competition we had a chance to win.
"It is hard but now we need to move on, wait for the new manager and keep working hard to come back stronger next season.
"When we look at the players we have got, we have got great individual players but that is not enough -- we need to keep working hard to keep the winning mentality going.
"This is something probably we didn't show this season. We need to learn from our mistakes and try to do better next season."
Zabaleta, who was in the youth team at San Lorenzo, when Manuel Pellegrini was the manager of the senior side, believes the former Villarreal and Real Madrid coach will be successful if he takes over, as expected, at City once he ends his tenure with Malaga at the end of the La Liga season.
"It can be his first experience (in England) but when you have been working for a long time in football, if you have got everything clear, you work on it," Zabaleta said.
"He is a clever person. When you go somewhere and it is a new experience you expect to do well and I think if you work hard you can make it so."
