Rafael Nadal will begin his bid for an unprecedented eighth French Open title when he takes on Daniel Brands of Germany in the first round at the Philippe Chatrier.
The Spaniard has been in stellar form on the clay courts ever since making his comeback from a serious knee injury, winning six of eight tournaments, and losing the other two in the final.
Nadal, the defending champion, is again the favorite for the title and the Spaniard will be keen for an easy passage to the second round when he takes the court against Brands.
"To talk about numbers, talk about history, you have to analyze when somebody finishes his career, not in the middle," Nadal said when asked about his legacy.
"For sure, I would like to be remembered like a good guy and a good player. Last year was important for me to win the seventh, one more than probably the best in history on this surface (Bjorn Borg). That means a lot to me.
"But in the end, Roland Garros has a special feeling and I feel very emotional every time I am back here. I'm going to try my best to keep having good results here in this tournament for the next couple of years."
Nadal faces his biggest hurdle in the mould of world number one and Australian Open champions Novak Djokovic, who only just fell short in the final against Nadal last year.
Djokovic, though, defeated Nadal in Monte Carlo last month and has pretty much got his number over the last couple of years or so, barring the red clay.
"When Rafa used to play Federer he would always just go to the backhand until he broke it down, it was a very simple strategy," former player Greg Rusedski told BBC Sport.
"With Djokovic, there is no real one side to go to. The forehand can be off a little bit but it is not really a weakness, it is still a strength.
"Movement-wise and physically, Rafa has actually met his match, where a guy can stay with him toe-to-toe and take it on early. That's never happened to him in his career and that's why there's a little bit of trepidation when he plays Djokovic."
