Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young continued his legal issues over the weekend, as he appeared in court in California to face charges after being arrested three different times and ignored the judge for the entire time.
According to CBS Sports, Young appeared in court after being jailed since early May for a number of legal issues and he is now currently facing 11 charges for his crimes, which came after he was arrested on suspicion of DUI and trying to steal his own car from an impound lot. Young has been arrested four times since May 4 and was also picked up on an attempted burglary charge. Young appeared in court inside of a protective cage in the courtroom and according to USA Today, he ignored the judge. The judge tried to engage with Young, but he stated through his lawyer that he was using his right to remain silent while facing his charges. The report said that Young's father also called out to him and he remained silent.
"Good morning, sir," Judge Andre Manssourian said to Young.
After getting no reply, the judge asked Young, "Can you hear me?"
After getting no reply to that, the judge asked, "Are you Titus Demetrius Young?"
Young has been going through a number of issues and some have said that mental health problems could be part of the whole situation for the former Lions wideout. Young was expected to be an explosive player for the Lions when he was drafted, but he was more trouble than he was worth after clashing with coaches and now his next pretrial hearing will be on June 4th and his hearing for a preliminary hearing will be on June 6.
