New York Yankees vs. Mets: Harvey Gets a Taste of the Subway Series

The New York Yankees and New York Mets meet in their second Subway Series matchup on Tuesady and after winning Game 1, the Mets will have a chance to make it two straight as their ace Matt Harvey takes the mound at Citi Field.

So far in his young career, it seems like Harvey is unfazed about a lot of things. He is a big time pitcher in the city of New York and although the Mets aren't expected to contend in 2013, he is one player the fans enjoy watching. He's given Mets fans something to look forward to every fifth day.

So far in the season, Harvey is 5-0 with a 1.93 ERA. The ERA is the fifth best in baseball. His 74 strikeouts give him the 10th highest total so far in the 2013 season. His 0.83 WHIP is the best in the majors amongst starting pitching. The numbers prove that Harvey is a top notch pitcher enjoying success at the start of his career.

If there is any good news for the Yankees it's that Harvey struggled in his last start after giving up four earned runs of 6.1 innings against the Cincinnati Reds. Also good news for the Yankees is that Harvey has only faced three teams above .500, so they will truly put his skills to the test in this Subway Series meeting. Aside from the Reds, who are 32-19, Harvey has faced the Washington Nationals (26-25) and the surprising Pittsburgh Pirates (31-20).

The bad news for the Yankees is that Harvey is 1-0 with a 3.13 ERA after giving up seven runs in 20.1 innings pitched to teams with records over .500. Also, the Yanks are on a two-game skid and facing Harvey doesn't make things any better.

Harvey will have the pleasure of facing the Yankees' best pitcher in 2013, Hiroki Kuroda. So far in 2013, Kuroda is 6-3 with a 2.63 ERA in 10 starts. He will be looking to bounce back in this outing as he struggled in his last start giving up five earned runs over two innings pitched against the Baltimore Orioles.

It will be Game 2 of the Subway Series and it should be a very good pitching match. Of course, the weather has to cooperate as New York is currently being blanketed by steady showers.
