Manchester City Transfer News: Jesus Navas Competition from Real Madrid; Dzeko Unlikely to Leave in the Summer

Manchester City are set to compete with Real Madrid for the signing of Sevilla winger Jesus Navas, while Edin Dzeko's agent does not expect his client to leave the English Premier League club in the summer.

Navas has been a name which has been linked with many Premier League clubs over the past several seasons, with City reported to be the frontrunners for the Spanish international's signature in this summer's transfer window.

Real Madrid are also looking at the possibility of bringing in the 27-year-old, with Angel Di Maria possibly leaving the club after holding talks with Paris Saint Germain, according to the Daily Mail.

City are ready to offer around £15 million for Navas' services, but the biggest stumbling block will be the fact that the winger faces severe issues with homesickness.

The primary reason why Navas has never left Sevilla has been due to this factor, and if at all he makes a move, it will be most likely to Real Madrid or another Spanish club.

Meanwhile, Dzeko's representative Safet Susic has insisted the City striker is likely to stay at the Etihad for next season, despite the club being linked to the likes of Edinson Cavani.

Dzeko scored 15 goals in 45 appearances last season, but only had 16 starts in the Premier League.

The former Wolfsburg striker has been linked with a move to Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund, while a switch to Napoli with Cavani going the other way has also been mooted.

However, Susic said Dzeko is not looking for a transfer away from City and believes his client can succeed under new manager Manuel Pellegrini, who is expected to take over next month.

"This season, he played around 40 games, which is really quite enough," Susic told Sport.ba. "The question is if Dzeko is satisfied with this. Of course, that is not my business.

"Will he leave in the summer? I don't think so. New manager Manuel Pellegrini is coming in and Edin is part of a great team.

"Besides that, I have never heard him say one bad thing about this club. He was always very happy with his life at City.

"But maybe his biggest problem was that he is a very nice guy who is honest and who never had any problems. It is easier to put such a player on the bench than those showmakers (Mario) Balotelli and (Carlos) Tevez.

"It will be his decision, but I believe that he will stay. He is smart enough and I know he will opt for what will be the best thing for him."
