Chelsea Transfer News: Andre Schurrle Transfer Fee Agreed with De Bruyne Set for Loan Move to Bayer Leverkusen

Chelsea have moved ever closer to signing long-term target Andre Schurrle after Bayer Leverkusen confirmed the two clubs had agreed on a fee for the German international, with Kevin De Bruyne, as expected, set to leave on a season-long loan to the Bundesliga side.

The Blues have been chasing Schurrle since last summer and it is understood personal terms have been agreed with the player for a while now.

The 22-year-old, currently a part of the Germany squad in the United States, is set to fly to London once the tour is over to finalize the deal, as Chelsea look to add yet another talented attacking piece to their already enviable squad.

"We have reached an agreement with Chelsea," Leverkusen general manager Wolfgang Holzhauser told the Rheinische Post.

"They are going to buy Andre Schurrle for a specific fee and, in return, they will loan De Bruyne to us for a year for free.

"I expect Chelsea to stand by what has been agreed."

The fee agreed upon is reportedly £20 million ($30 million) with De Bruyne thrown in as a sweetener to the deal.

The move was in doubt for a couple of weeks after Borussia Dortmund showed a keen interest in bringing in De Bruyne, who had a brilliant season with Werder Bremen, on a permanent basis, with the player himself reportedly preferring a move to Dortmund over Leverkusen.

However, is now seems a deal has been agreed between the two sides with Schurrle finally set to move to Stamford Bridge to give incoming manager Jose Mourinho another key asset to work with.
