The New York Yankees are turning a new leaf in the season. After losing a season-high five games in a row, including getting swept by the New York Mets, they are back at winning and getting key players back in the lineup.
Things were getting scary for the Yankees, but after defeating the Boston Red Sox on Friday, the team is hoping momentum is in their favor. Mark Teixeira made his season debut on Saturday night after tearing a tendon in his right wrist. However he remained ineffective after going 0-3 at the plate. Kevin Youkilis is back as well after spending time resting an injured back. He contributed an RBI single on Friday. The Yankees have been ravaged with injuries this season, the return of two players is needed.
Phil Hughes gets the start for New York. He will seek his fourth straight win over the Red Sox. He is 2-3 on the season with a 4.97 ERA. The right-hander is coming off some rough starts after allowing 13 runs in six innings back in May. He has since given up just three runs in 13 innings since.
While the Yankees are returning to form, the Red Sox are losing theirs. Boston is in a rough stretch offensively, dropping three of their last five games. They have totaled just five runs in the past three games.
Felix Doubront gets the start for Boston. He is looking for his first win in the past six starts. He has a 5.29 ERA on the season while the Red Sox fail to give him any run support. Against the Yankees, he has a 2.52 ERA in four starts and should play well on Saturday.
