Chelsea Transfer News: Mourinho Confirms He Expects to Be Named New Manager This Week; Robben, Carvalho Back Portuguese to Succeed

Jose Mourinho confirmed he is set to return to Chelsea, with the manager saying he will probably be appointed the club's new manager by the end of the week.

Mourinho ended his stay at Real Madrid with a 4-2 win over Osasuna in the final La Liga game of the season, after which Real president Florentino Perez confirmed the Portuguese was on his way to Chelsea.

Now the man himself has confirmed on Spanish television that he expects to be named Chelsea manager in a few days' time.

"I'm going to London on Monday and at the end of the week I will be the manager of Chelsea," he told Punto Pelota. "I feel the people there love me and in life you have to look for that.

"Life is beautiful and short and you must look for what you think is best for you."

Arjen Robben and Ricardo Carvalho believe Mourinho will be successful in his second stint as Chelsea coach.

Robben spent three years under Mourinho at Chelsea, winning two English Premier League titles, and knows the winning mentality that the manager cultivates in his players.

"It's a big move for Chelsea with Jose coming back but I know it is one the fans will welcome," he told The Sunday People.

"He had very successful years at Chelsea and he can have them again.

"The thing about Jose is that he will win at any cost; he doesn't care how, he just wants to win.

"I've not always been supportive of the style of football he plays, but he is a winner who has achieved great success. I am sure that with some big signings from the owner that Jose and Chelsea can rule England again."

Carvalho also concurred with Robben and expects Mourinho to win the Premier League title again with the Blues.

"They are doing well but it is important to improve," he told Sky Sports. "It's a special club for me. I was so happy there and I wish they will win titles.

"They won the UEFA Cup (Europa League this season) but the Premier League is important.

"In two or three years I'm sure, but also in his first year he can win again. In 2004 when we went there, he won in his first year and he can do the same."

Robben also admitted he was not surprised that Lampard extended his stay at Stamford Bridge by a further year, saying that was always going to be the case once it became clear that Mourinho was returning to Chelsea.

"It is no surprise to me that Frank is now staying," he said. "It cannot be for football reasons that he was going because he is still one of the best. It must have been a personal thing with the old coach.

"As soon as it became clear Jose would return, there was never any chance Frank would go because there is such respect and a friendship between the two of them.

"He sent me a text after we won the final, that is the sort of classy guy Frank is."
