The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Boston Bruins are in the Eastern conference finals and after falling behind after Game 1, Sidney Crosby and company need to get things back together after losing Game 2 in a blowout at home, giving the Bruins a 2-0 lead heading into Game 3 at TD Garden. Boston took hold of the game quickly in the first period and never allowed the Penguins to get back into it and Crosby had some bad struggles and turned over the puck way too much while trying to make plays early.
Crosby had a rough early going for the Penguins and the team allowed four goals in the first period to fall behind and only mustered up one from Brandon Sutter to cut the lead. The Bruins took a 4-1 lead into the third period after getting another goal from David Krejci and Nathan Horton while also getting two from Brad Marchand. The Bruins added another goal quickly in the third period for a 5-1 lead after a score from Patrice Bergeron and the team has been playing excellent throughout the playoffs and after taking a 3-0 series lead against the Rangers the team has continued playing hot on offense, getting four goals in the opening period in Game 2.
The Chicago Blackhawks and the Los Angeles Kings are playing in the western conference finals and after taking Game 2 with a score of 4-2 the Blackhawks have a quick 2-0 lead in the series and now the Stanley Cup champions are on their heels as things head to California for Game 3. The Kings won the Stanley Cup after being the eighth seed last season and now they will have to rally to make it back to the finals. The team has experience doing it after going down 2-0 against the Blues in the opening round of the playoffs, but this time they are playing the number one seed in the conference in a team that started off the season on a record streak. The Penguins will need to rally to win the series and both Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin will need to play better going forward for Pittsburgh to have a shot.
Tyler Toffoli and Jeff Carter scored for the Kings in the 4-2 loss and Mike Richards and Jonathan Quick will need to rebound for the Kings to get back into the series. The Blackhawks got four goals from four different players and Corey Crawford was fantastic in net while making 29 saves on the night. Quick had just 13 saves in the game and after Crawford allowed one goal on two shots in the first game in the first period, he was fantastic early for the Blackhawks, keeping the Kings out of net until the second. Chicago never trailed in the game after scoring two goals in the first and second period and the Blackhawks will be looking to put their foot down on the Kings by winning Game 3 for a 3-0 series lead.
