The French Open 2013 semifinals bracket in Men's Singles is set as Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal won in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. With their victories, Djokovic (1) and Nadal (3) earned their spot in the semifinals.
For Djokovic, as expected, it was a very close matchup. He defeated Tommy Haas bettering his record to 5-3 against the German. Djokovic won in three well played sets 6-4, 7-6, 7-5. Djokovic finished with 11 aces while Haas only had four in this match. Djokovic also won the battle of unforced errors committing only 25 to Haas's 34. He also completely controlled the winners getting 46 to Haas's 19.
Over in the second match, Nadal took out Stanislas Wawrinka, the Swiss, as he cruised through three sets. Nada won 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the semis where he will attempt to win and advance to the Finals for a chance to capture his eighth French Open title.
What are the matchups for the French Open semis?
You couldn't write it any better, although, a final between Djokovic and Nadal would have been a lot more fun to watch.
Novak Djokovic (1)
vs.
Rafael Nadal (3)
David Ferrer (4)
vs.
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (6)
With no Andy Murray, Ferrer and Tsonga's path to the quarters and semis were fairly clear. For Tsonga, he had the toughest route after having to face Roger Federer in the quarterfinals and defeating him easily. Ferrer has played a string of fellow countrymen and he'd love to faceoff against Nadal in the Finals.
The Women's Singles semis will be played on Thursday, while the Men's Singles will be in action on Friday, June 7.
