NBA News And Rumors: Sixers' Consultant Julius Irving Calls Andrew Bynum 'Damaged Goods'

Philadelphia trade that brought Adrew Bynum to the Sixers has been a bust all season being that the All-Star center has yet to touch the floor due to lingering knee injuries.

With Bynum coming into free agency this offseason, Sixers' consultant Julius Erving believes that it may be time to part ways with what he calls "damaged goods', according to USA Today.

"When you talk to the Lakers, when you talk to the Celtics, when you talk to - well, those two in particular - the guy on the other end of the phone has his fingers crossed," Erving said. "So whatever he's telling you, he's not telling you the truth. He's working a deal for him. And what happened to us last year with getting damaged goods hopefully will only happen once. And that's the extent of that learning curve."

Erving hasn't been the biggest fan of the Bynum trade, back in April he was highly critical of the move and was calling for a future that didn't involve the big man.

"I know what the net result it. The net result is Robert Parrish's old number - zero, zero. So we have not benefitted one degree and I guess he has.

"I think if he's not here you are going to free up a lot of money and money talks in the NBA," Erving said. "Washington and Lincoln can't play the corners for you but they can get you somebody that can play the corners. We need somebody to play the corner and the middle for us. It's going to be costly but the Bynum situation is going to be one of total uncertainty for another year."

Bynum will be eligible for a max contract deal this offseason, but without having any playing time this season, not many suitors are jumping at the opportunity to sign.
