Manchester City finally confirmed the capture of Spanish international Jesus Navas from Sevilla.
The 27-year-old completed a medical in New York, where he is on international duty with Spain, and the move has now been ratified after Sevilla had confirmed last week a fee had been agreed between the two clubs, thought to be rising up to a potential £24 million ($37 million), although the initial fee is reportedly £15 million ($23.4 million).
"Manchester City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Jesus Navas from Sevilla," the club said in a statement on their official website.
"The 27-year-old right winger has completed a medical in New York and will meet up with the Blues squad after the Confederations Cup and a short holiday."
Navas, who has spent his entire career with Sevilla, had earlier expressed his desire for a new challenge, and believes he is matured enough now to be able to cope with the chronic homesickness which had prevented him from making a move abroad previously.
"Manchester City is an exciting project and this is the right moment for me to take this step," he said. "I'm very happy with the opportunity and the decision.
"The Premier League is a competition where the football is very fast and will suit the way I play. I'm really looking forward to it.
"City have been successful in recent years and are continuing to make a great team and I'm honoured to now be part of it.
"I'm going to a great club in England and I want to continue developing my game there. The club has put a lot of faith in me and I want to repay them out on the pitch."
City have already started a considerable spending spree with Navas becoming the second signing of the summer following Brazilian international Fernandinho's capture from Shakhtar Donetsk £30 million ($47 million).
Navas said playing in the Champions League and competing for the English Premier League title were big factors in his decision to make a move to Manchester.
"I won some important titles with Sevilla but the Champions League is something you always have in mind, also to enjoy the Premier League and to have a really strong year," he said.
"Truth is this is a dream for me and a challenge to play for a club like Manchester City and fight for titles and everything that comes with that.
"Considering everything, it was the confidence that I could play there and the truth is I am very happy to play for such a big club.
"Individually, above all, City have so many good players and the idea of playing there with such amazing players and fighting for a title -- because I feel we have a good team to do that."
