Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: DeSean Jackson Says Michael Vick, Nick Foles Competition Close, Hopeful Chip Kelly to Name Starting Quarterback Soon

Chip Kelly's patience with the quarterback competition is not winning the new head coach too many fans on the team. Kelly is content with letting things between Nick Foles and Michael Vick play out possibly through training camp. The head coach is notoriously slow on naming a starter, but many of players are ready for him to make a decision. While Vick made headlines asking for the competition to be over, wide receiver DeSean Jackson is echoing those statements.

Jackson sat down with the NFL Network to discuss the highly publicized competition between Vick and Foles. He stressed that all of the players are anxious to find out who the team's starter is going to be, hoping to know soon.

"I have been hearing some things about Vick saying he wants to know. At the same time, the team wants to know too. We need to go into training camp prepared and know who is going to be our starting quarterback," Jackson said.

The wide receiver admits that things are pretty equal between the two players. Kelly is giving both quarterbacks equal reps with the first-team offense and equal amount of time throwing in practice. This has not exactly thrilled Vick who said he is not happy having to split time with another player.

"It's tough. I have to continue to put be professional and put my feelings and emotions to the side, and just continue to compete. But it's hard. I would be lying if I said it wasn't, but that's just what I have to deal with, and I'm going to keep dealing with it until I see otherwise," Vick said.

If history has taught people anything, it is that Kelly will not be naming a starting quarterback for a while. During his time at the University of Oregon, he normally would not name a quarterback until a week before the season began. Now in the NFL, he has the ability to see each quarterback against other NFL talent during the preseason. Vick and Foles should expect to be splitting reps and practice time for weeks to come. While he may run a fast offense, Kelly is not quick with the quarterbacks.
