New York Jets Rumors: Zach Rogers Ditches Tim Tebow Number 15 At Minicamp As Quarterback Brings Media Circus To New England Patriots

Tim Tebow is back in the NFL officially following a small vacation after the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick decided to sign the quarterback and give him another chance and back on his old team in the New York Jets, another reminder of the disastrous deal for the quarterback has been erased.

According to AllForTennessee.com, former Volunteers receiver Zach Rogers, who is trying to earn a spot on the team in offseason workouts, had previously been wearing the same number 15 that Tebow had while he was with the team, but it appears that those days are now over. The report from the site has a picture of Rogers from workouts while wearing the number 9 on his jersey, meaning that he no longer is sporting the good ol' number 15 that Tebow had. The number change could bode well for Rogers, as he has already started to prove himself through OTA's and minicamps and it is looking likely that he will make the roster for training camp.

Head coach Rex Ryan has had positive things to say about Rogers and his work ethic and another thing that could bode well for him going forward is the fact that the Jets have been using him to return kicks in practice. The team needs a more explosive element in the return game and the fact that he could end up playing wide receiver and kick returner gives him an appealing amount of versatility for Ryan. Rogers played with first round draft pick Cordarrelle Patterson at Tennessee last season and he could be a sleeper for the Jets after making 32 catches for nearly 500 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior for the Volunteers.

Rogers has dealt with some injuries in the past and he could end up being a slot option for the Jets this season as they try to give more weapons to quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith. Having Tebow's number wasn't an issue for Rogers, who earlier in the offseason said he didn't realize it was his, but now he can start fresh with a new number and if he makes the team chances are he couldn't have 15 anyway. Tebow was released by the Jets after the team could never figure out how to use him and now he is with the Patriots and knowing Bill Belichick, he will find a way to use Tebow and defeat New York at least once this season.
