Miami Dolphins Rumors: Evan Rodriguez Claimed After Chicago Bears Release As Vonta Leach Visits, Dustin Keller Ready For Tim Tebow and Patriots In AFC East

The Miami Dolphins have been looking to bolster their running game since losing Reggie Bush in free agency and while the team didn't go out to try and sign a new back, the team is working on getting its blocking together, which is why they claimed former Bears FB Evan Rodriguez and are hosting Vonta Leach for a visit.

According to ESPN.com, the team claimed Rodriguez after he was released by the Bears after being arrested twice during the offseason. The second offense occurred in May for driving under the influence, speeding and improper lane use and that came after another incident earlier that involved disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer, although that was dropped, but the Bears had enough. The team felt it was time to move on and the Dolphins pounced on him.

Rodriguez has talent after coming out of Temple and although general manager Phil Emery said he was "extremely disappointed" during OTAs, it didn't appear that the Bears would release him. He played 12 games last season and made four catches for 21 yards while starting five games and his most valuable talent is his blocking and the Dolphins need that for their running game to get better. The team is relying on Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas after letting Bush go and they want the offense to be more balanced with Ryan Tannheill at quarterback.

The Dolphins also hosted recently released fullback Vonta Leach for a visit after he was cut by the Ravens and playing in the Super Bowl. The Dolphins could decide to bring him in over Rodriguez and age will likely be a factor. Rumors say the Houston Texans and the New York Giants are also interested. News about Tim Tebow circulated around the team and Dustin Keller and others said it would be interesting to see what he can do with the Patriots.
