Tim Tebow is with the New England Patriots and although the team has already handled things better on the first day than the Jets did at all during his time with the team, that hasn't stopped retailers from trying to cash in, as "Tebowing" shirts have already been made.
According to SI.com, shirts have already been made with Tebow doing his signature "Tebowing" kneel and on a number five jersey in the Patriots Patriot logo. The shirt comes in three different colors and while many area retailers have not gotten jerseys yet, the shirts can be found online. The Boston area has no jerseys yet and while most Patriots fans are smarter than Jets ones, there will be some crazies out there that want the quarterback to play. NFL.com already has jerseys and any fan that wants them can get a Tebow number five jersey for the Patriots.
Tebow signed with the team after being released by the Jets and while many were surprised, the team made the most sense for him, as it has an established starting and backup quarterback and a coach that can handle the media. Now Tebow will have the chance to develop at his own pace and the Patriots have the chance to use him in ways the Jets never could figure out.
Tebow was a star in Denver while leading the team to the playoffs and once the team realized that they could get Peyton Manning, it was goodbye Tebow and off he went to the Jets. The team greeted him with great fanfare, but like everyone expected since it's the Jets, it was a total disaster and he ended up with just 102 yards rushing and zero touchdowns while competing only six passes. The Jets clearly only got him to sell jerseys and steal headlines and he did that very well and now the Patriots will try and stick it to the Jets after picking him up on a two year deal with no risk and no guarantees.
