After an intense seven game NBA Finals series, Miami Heat star and Finals MVP LeBron James came to the defense of Long Island's Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs on the perception he partied with the Heat after winning the championship in Game 7.
A picture of the two spotted in a club during the Heat's celebration raced around the web Friday, and showed James giving Green a hug at the popular South Beach nightclub, LIV, at the Fountainbleau Hotel.
Green and James were teammates in Cleveland during the 2009-10 season, where they developed a relationship that resulted in them being good friends.
James, who took a break from Twitter during the playoffs, tweeted his defense for Green, insisting that the situation is being over exaggerated in the media.
Green averaged 11.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 31.9 minutes playing time during the 2012-13 playoffs. He was a starter for all 21 games, and also set a new NBA Finals record for 3-pointers made at 27.
As the playoffs continued on his minutes and impact increased, and despite going 2-for-19 from the field, and 2-for-11 from beyond 3-point line in the last two games of the Finals, if the Spurs would've won it was widely speculated that Green would've been named Finals MVP.
His playoff performance literally made Green a household name, and now with the respect of the two-time Finals MVP, he has become one of the NBA's top overall guards.
