After the epic upset of Rafael Nadal in the first round, the likes of Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams and David Ferrer will be hoping to avoid a loss when they play their first matches of Wimbledon 2013.
Djokovic has a pretty open draw ahead of him with Roger Federer and Andy Murray, both of whom eased to victories in their opening round matches, in the other half of the draw.
The Serbian won his first ever Wimbledon in 2011 and after suffering disappointment last year, Djokovic will be determined to make things right by, at the very least, reaching the final.
His first hurdle will be against Florian Mayer of Germany, who is ranked at No. 33 and well capable of causing a hiccup or two to Djokovic.
Before Djokovic takes on Mayer in the first round, Serena Williams, the defending women's champion, will be in action at Centre Court with the American set to face Mandy Minella of Luxembourg, currently ranked 92nd in the world.
"I'm not really familiar with her game as well as I would like to be," Williams said. "That's one thing I do enjoy about playing new players. It's always an opportunity to see a new face, to have a lot of experience."
If Serena, who has won five Wimbledon titles, defends her Wimbledon crown this year, she will surpass her elder sister Venus, who is not at the All-England club due to injury.
"For me there is no family competition, but this is the first year I believe I've played Wimbledon and Venus hasn't been here," Serena added. "I'm not sure. Yeah, that's true.
"So I feel so lonely. I feel like something is missing. So I talk to her all the time -- more than usual. We stay together and I'm still staying in the small room because she always had the bigger room. I just can't imagine being in the bigger room.
"So she told me before I left, she said, Snap out of it. It's time for you to pass me. So that was really encouraging. So hopefully I'll be able to do it."
Ferrer takes on Martin Alund of Germany at Centre Court after the Djokovic match, with the likes of Juan Martin Del Potro, Tomas Berdych, Li Na and Agnieszka Radwanska also beginning their campaigns Tuesday.
