Cardiff have agreed a fee with FC Copenhagen for highly-rated forward Andreas Cornelius, while Crystal Palace are thought to be closing in on a move for Peterborough striker Dwight Gayle.
Cornelius has been much wanted across Europe, after impressing in his first full season with Copenhagen, scoring 18 goals in 32 games while also breaking into the senior Denmark side.
The 20-year-old has been linked with the likes of Arsenal in the past and if Cardiff complete a deal, then it will be seen as a major coup - Cornelius only needs to complete a medical with the fee that was agreed reported to be around £7.5 million ($11.4 million).
"Cardiff City Football Club have today (Thursday) reached an agreement with FC Copenhagen for the services of Andreas Cornelius," the club said in a statement on their official website.
"The 20-year-old striker is set to join the club for an undisclosed fee on completion of his medical."
Meanwhile, another newly-promoted club Crystal Palace could be about to land their first striker signing of the summer, with Peterborough's Gayle thought to be on the brink of a move after Palace reportedly agreed on a fee for the 22-year-old.
Peterborough director of football Barry Fry confirmed there was plenty of interest for Gayle, and a move away was likely.
"We don't want him to go," Fry told the South London Press. "He is on a four-year contract but so many clubs are in for him that it is very difficult for us to stop a player from League One moving to the Premier League.
"It has got to be a good offer -- then we'd reluctantly let him go to the Premier League.
"He has got four years left but we are honorable people. We keep our best players as long as we can but if we get a good offer then we will listen to it.
"We've done that with all our players. The difference here is that Dwight is on a much longer contract.
"He is the best player I've had -- by 100 miles. Just look at his goals -- right foot, left foot and head."
