New England Patriots quarterback Tim Tebow was a teammate of Aaron Hernandez at the University of Florida and their second stint on the same roster did not last very long, as the quarterback was signed a few weeks ago and now Hernandez is in jail after being arrested, released from the team and charged with murder.
Tebow has been the center of media attention throughout his career and the same thing happened again after he signed with the Patriots and while many writers felt that he would be the top story of the summer, the murder case involving Hernandez has taken over. According to Facebook, Tebow spent time this week at the IMG Academy working out and this came around the same time that the Hernandez investigation was heating up.
The tight end was arrested on Wednesday morning and arraigned in court after being connected to the murder of 27-year-old semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd and now Tebow is left on the roster without his former Florida teammate. Tebow and Hernandez played together for multiple seasons under Urban Meyer at Florida and the two won a national championship together in 2008 and the season after that, Hernandez won the award for the best tight end in the nation.
Hernandez has been implicated in the murder and prosecutors have painted him as the orchestrator of the execution, as they presented evidence that showed the two were together that night and that Hernandez had a gun a short time before the murder. Lloyd's body was found in an industrial park a mile from the mansion home Hernandez shares with his girlfriend and young child and the lawyers said that evidence showed that he returned to that home just minutes after the gunshots were reportedly fired.
Employees working night shifts heard the gunshots and lawyers also said they had video of Hernandez with a gun. He was arrested and charged with the murder of Hernandez and another man was also taken into custody on Thursday in connection with the murder and after the bail hearing on Thursday, Hernandez will remain in jail. Hernandez is also under fire for his possible involvement in a double murder last year and he is being investigated in that case and a car of his was impounded by police.
