Tim Tebow Rumors: QB Linked Pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church Denounces Supreme Court DOMA Decision On Gay Marriage, Agrees With Justice Antonin Scalia

Tim Tebow once was scheduled to speak at an event for Pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church in Dallas, but after a media outcry denounced the pastor for his thoughts on homosexuality, other religions and many other topics, the quarterback decided to pull out, causing the pastor to call him a coward.

According to the Christian Post, Jeffress spoke about the Supreme Court decision on gay marriage after it was handed down and said that political correctness was the only reason it was done. He said it was a slap in the face to God, because God knows everything and he hates gay marriage, like so much. Jeffress also added that the issue came down to public opinion more than moral principles and that the high court made a mistake.

Jeffress is the leader of an 11,000-member congregation and he said that if you keep expanding the definition of marriage, it could spiral out into more, like animals or other things. The decision by the Supreme court in DOMA allowed same sex coupled to get federal benefits and the vote was a close one at 5-4 vote. He also mentioned President Bill Clinton, who signed the bill but now says its unconstitutional and linked that to the public opinion changing.

Tebow is not associated with Jeffress after not going to his event, but the star has hard Christian ties and while he hasn't spoken up about the decision, he likely agrees. Tebow is busy anyway, as his former teammate Aaron Hernandez has been accused of murder and now many think that he has a chance to possibly play tight end for the team as the Patriots try to figure out what is next.

Hernandez is facing gun and murder charges in the death of Odin Lloyd and after being denied bail he could later face life in prison for the killing. Evidence has been detailed by prosecutors and while it is circumstantial, they may have a strong case.

"If you start expanding the definition of marriage between one man and one woman, where do you stop?" the pastor asked.
