With the NBA free agency jump starting Monday, the Los Angeles Lakers are doing everything possible in order to secure that center Dwight Howard will re-sign with the team during the summer.
It seems the Lakers are making perimeter shooting a main priority as news of the pursuit of free agents Chris Copeland, Francisco Garcia, Jordan Farmer and Nick Young come to light.
The most interesting of the bunch has to be Young, whose game if very much similar to that of J.R. Smith in the sense that, when he's shooting well, he can be very exciting to watch. But when he's off, you'll want to hide your eyes.
Young is a native of Los Angeles and is scorer who can create his own shot coming off the dribble, which is a problem the Lakers have suffered from in recent years, outside of Kobe Bryant.
Young averaged 10.6 points per game with the Philadelphia 76ers while shooting 35 percent from the three point line.
It'll be interesting to see who the Lakers eventually pick up, but the fact that they're all shooters bolds well for coach Mike D'Antoni's system, which will create space for the bigs in the middle.
With that being said, if ran efficiently, Howard can conceivably thrive with more shooters on the floor, similar to the year he lead the Orlando Magic to the NBA Finals in 2010.
We'll see how this unfolds, but for now the waiting game continues.
