Baltimore Ravens Rumors: Brandon Lloyd A Free Agent Option Ahead of Training Camp? Joe Flacco Needs Wide Receiver Help After Boldin Trade

The Baltimore Ravens are Super Bowl champions and despite defeating the San Francisco 49ers for the championship, the team had high turnover on the roster, including names like Vonta Leach, Anquan Boldin, Dannell Ellerbe and Paul Kruger among others.

The team has signed a number of players itself in response and even though it is getting close to training camp, the team could add some more, including Brandon Lloyd at wide receiver to help fill the void from the departed Boldin. Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome made an offer to bring Leach back, but he likely will be gone and now the team may want Lloyd to step in as their number two receiver behind Torrey Smith, who is expected to step up into the number one role.

The 32-year-old Lloyd was let go by the Patriots as they try to get younger at the position and he could be a good for the Ravens and Joe Flacco as they need depth at wideout. Last season Lloyd had some big expectations and had a good year with 74 catches in 120 targets from Tom Brady, but that apparently wasn't enough production for Bill Belichick, who let him go despite his 12.4 yards per catch average.

Lloyd was drafted back in 2003 and has had one 1,000 yard season, although he is considered a very solid player. Last season he had four touchdowns and 911 yards on those catches as well as number of first down conversions and he could be a solid possession receiver for the Ravens as they try to get back to the Super Bowl with a retooled roster.
