Cowboys Rumors: Bill Parcels Admires Jerry Jones, Compares Dallas GM to Raiders Owner Al Davis as Fans Misunderstand Passion

Jerry Jones receives a large amount of blame from Dallas Cowboys fans for the recent demise of the team. The truth is that the Cowboys have one playoff win since 1996. Tony Romo cannot be the main reason for the lack of postseason success. As Jones remains vocal about a push for the playoffs this season, he has at least one person backing his passion, Bill Parcells.

Parcells and Jones have developed a close relationship over the years. Parcells is remember as the coach during the infamous playoff loss in 2006 when Romo botched the hold on the field goal and lost the game. The soon-to-be Hall of Fame coach said that he has remained a Jones fan and thinks the general manager is simply misunderstood.

"Oh yeah, definitely. I think it's distorted. I think there's a definite misperception. I just think everyone thinks things are a certain way. I didn't see it to be that way.  I think Jerry is a good business man and a good listener. What you have to do is make sense to him," Parcells said.

Parcells remains adamant that he enjoyed his time in Dallas as coach from 2003-06. He notes that he might not have turned out a perfect record, but he certainly learned from the experience. He walked away as a true admirer of Jones. While the owner gets criticized for having a hand too much of the Cowboys' business, Parcells says that is just misunderstood passion.

Parcells compared Jones to Oakland Raiders late owner Al Davis. He says that while some owners are blasé about winning, others have a passion about it that draws people to the job.

"You want to be somewhere where it's important to the people and certainly it's a high-profile franchise without question. I just felt like those are the kinds of things I look forward to. I was trying to do something at a place like that. I think they're passionate. I think they're trying to be successful in the business. Hey, that's all a coach can ask for," Parcells said.

Parcells is entering into the Hall of Fame as a Giant having spent 10 years in New York as an assistant and head coach. While the Cowboys may have issues heading into 2013 with questions surrounding multiple areas of the team, Parcells is confident that Jones is not one of the lingering problems.
