The New York Yankees are hanging in the American League East race despite a ton of injuries and while Alex Rodriguez may never return due to an upcoming suspension, the team will get back Curtis Granderson soon.
According to Hardball Talk, Granderson is progressing well and he is on schedule to return to the team when he is all healed up after breaking his pinkie when it was hit with a ball and fractured. This came after a similar injury earlier in spring training and so far this season he has played in just eight games for the Yanks.
Granderson has been working at the spring training complex in Florida and got plate appearances in a simulated game and along with Derek Jeter, he may come off the disabled list soon. Granderson could return in early August and it can't be any sooner for a Yankees team that needs him.
"I need some swings right now. That's the main thing I'm missing," he said to MLB.com.
