St. Louis Cardinals Live Stream vs. Philadelphia Phillies: Watch Free Baseball Online at 8:15 p.m. ET

Young arms take the hill when the St. Louis Cardinals host the Philadelphia Phillies tonight as they are set to clash for a three-game series. The Cardinals will look to pad their lead in the N.L. Central, while the Phillies are attempting to make a second-half run in the N.L. East. Check out the live stream available as the Cardinals vs. Phillies matchup will be MLB.TV's Free Game of the Day.

A new generation of baseball players is entering the league as both pitchers were born in 1990. Jonathan Pettibone of the Philadelphia Phillies is the elder of the two. He is fresh off turning 23 years old and he will look to continue his dominant pitching for the second-place Phillies. Opposing him will be the Cardinals' surprising righty, Shelby Miller. He is still 22 years of age as his birthday is in October. Miller, along with fellow teammates, look to advance into October baseball.

Though Miller pitches for the better team, he has struggled of late and could possibly wind up with his seventh loss of the year. He is 9-6 with a 2.92 ERA in 18 starts this season. He's 1-2 in his last four starts with a 6.86 ERA. He was shelled by the Oakland A's in an outing that didn't see him escape the second inning. He surrendered five earned runs in 1.2 innings pitched.

For Pettibone, he sure hopes the Phillies' offense can show up at Busch Stadium on Tuesday evening. In his last four starts, Pettibone is 2-0 with a 3.13 ERA after pitching 23 innings and only allowing eight earned runs. So far in 2013, he's 5-3 with a 3.89 ERA, which is pretty decent.

The Cardinals are trying to keep the Pittsburgh Pirates at bay, no pun intended. After St. Louis had an off day on Monday, the Pirates are now only 1.5 games from first place as they defeated the Washington Nationals 6-5 in a nail biter. The Phillies are attempting to cut down on the Atlanta Braves' seven-game lead. In order to do so, they must first get to .500, as they are currently 49-50. They will need to bring out their A-game as the Cardinals have the best winning percentage in baseball.
