The U.S. and Panama are undefeated in the 2013 Gold Cup. The Americans have put their defense and offense on display. They defeated Belize 6-1, Cuba 4-1, Costa Rica 1-0 and El Salvador 5-1 before escaping Honduras in the semifinals, winning 3-1 behind Landon Donovan's strong performance.
The Panamanian's lone blemish was a 0-0 draw with Canada. They defeated Martinique 1-0 and Cuba 6-1. They started the tournament by defeating Mexico 1-0 and then defeated them again in the semifinals 2-1.
In the head-to-head department, the U.S. has the advantage. The U.S. has won four of their last five meetings against Panama dating back to 2009. The two nations met in the 2014 World Cup Qualifiers last month and the U.S. defeated Panama 2-0.
Can the U.S. repeat that performance? Fans believe so, 50 percent of the predictions on Goal.com see the U.S. winning the Gold Cup 2-0, while 25 percent see the U.S. winning 4-1. A victory would give the U.S. its fifth Gold Cup title, which will place them just one cup behind Mexico, which leads all nations with six Gold Cups. This is Panama's most successful run since finishing tied for third place with Honduras in 2011.
