NFL News And Rumors: Patriots Experience With Helmet Camera During Practice To Gain Advantage Over Opponents

As the NFL comes up with new ways to gain an edge,  as new reports suggest that the league's first helmet camera isn't too far off from becoming a reality.

According to NFL.com, NFL teams are trying every way to use the new technology to gain an advantage over their opponents. The latest being the New England Patriots, who have placed a small camera on the practice helmet of their quarterbacks for the past week or so.

"It's something we haven't done before so we'll take a look at it and see how effective it is or what we can get out of it," coach Bill Belichick said Sunday. "I'm not sure exactly how effective that will or won't be but it's something we're trying that's a little bit new. We'll see how it goes."

The helmet camera will provide an interesting perspective that can give coaches an extended insight into what exactly the quarterback is seeing as he goes through his pre-snap and post-snap progressions.

Recently Belichick was asked whether the Patriots see Tim Tebow as strictly being used as a quarterback, or whether they might want to use him in other positions as well. Belichick declined to answer.

"I think we'll use Tim where ever we feel like is best for the team," Belichick said. "I know that's what he's committed to doing as well, whatever that is."

But when asked about Tebow's practice habits, Belichick said he likes what he sees.

"He's got a great work ethic - great," Belichick said.
