MLB Trades: Jake Peavy in 3-Way Deal Involving Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox

MLB just saw it's biggest move before the July 31st trade deadline. It was a three-way trade that saw the Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers swap players as each team filled a need. The Red Sox received Jake Peavy, the Detrot Tigers received shortstop Jose Iglesias, while the White Sox received right fielder Avisail Garcia.

The biggest piece moved was Peavy. It was a long awaited move. Peavy received a huge ovation last week after facing the Tigers as many fans expected the former Cy Young Award winner to depart before his next start. Peavy was set to pitch for the White Sox on Tuesday, but he was scratched from his start as trade talks began to intensify.

The White Sox get a right fielder as another one of their heavily rumored stars is expected to move. Alex Rios has been on the trade block for what feels like the entire year. Garcia was considered a top prospect for the Tigers and he was nicknamed "Little Miggy" as he resembles Detroit's slugger, Miguel Cabrera.

The Red Sox gave up shortstop Iglesias, 23, as the Tigers are trying to get insurance for Jhonny Peralta's looming Biogenesis suspension. Iglesias' success might be considered luck as 24 of his 70 hits have been infield singles. He isn't the biggest name, but he has provided the best numbers, posting a .330 batting average.

Garcia is only 22 years old and hitting .241 in 30 games played this season. He's hit two home runs with 10 RBI. In his playoffs in 2012, Garcia had a huge series against the New York Yankees, driving in three run and hitting .455 in four ALCS games.

Peavy is a veteran. He is 32 years old and has 12 years in baseball. He will make the Red Sox a better team and could possible help bring a championship to Boston. He's 8-4 with a 4.28 ERA and 1.14 WHIP.
