Miami Heat NBA Rumors: LeBron James Considering Run For Players Association Union President But Probably Won't Since He Is Busy Like A Superstar

The Miami Heat are coming off their second straight championship and third straight finals appearance and with star LeBron James being named MVP for the second time in a row, the superstar is looking to add another title to his resume: players union president.

According to ESPN.com, James is considering a run at the position, although the report says that he may not do until he gets older in his career and has fewer commitments to worry about, including endorsements, appearances and other business ventures. James has been involved in the union dealings and business over the past few years after attending bargaining sessions during the lockout and he also has been vocal about the direction of the union in the past. James has spoken with friend Chris Paul, who has served as union vice president and while a move may not happen, NBPA president Derek Fisher's term expired this summer and the union needs a new head.

The union needs a replacement for executive director Billy Hunter after he was dismissed for mismanaging funds and giving family members jobs and benefits and as Adam Silver is scheduled to take over as NBA commissioner in February, the union will have a new head too. Patrick Ewing previously was the head at the end of his career and James would be the most high profile star to have the position.

James is coming off another championship run and that is why he stopped playing national team basketball and this could be a move he considers in the future if not right now. According to Fox Sports: "It's something he has talked about with a small group of people. He was very vocal at the meeting during the All-Star Weekend about the need for the union to dramatically change. There is a new executive director coming in and new commissioner. He recognizes that this is the time for the union to change."
