The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently riding an 11-game road win streak. They head into Chicago with the Cubs looking to end their attempt at a franchise-best 12-game road win streak. The last time the Dodgers were able to hold a win streak for that long, they were known as the Brooklyn Robins and it was 1924.
The Dodgers are on a solid run, currently sitting on top of the National League West. They have won the last 27 of 35 overall. They are sending Hyun-Jin Ryu will take the mound for the first time against the Cubs. He is 9-3 with a 3.14 ERA on the season. On the road, Ryu is 4-2 with a 4.62 ERA in 10 starts. The South Korean could set a record for the most wins by a South Korean rookie pitcher. The Dodgers have won the last six games Ryu started.
The Cubs are on a different path than the Dodgers. They are losers of the last four of five games. Travis Wood takes the mound which could be considered a good thing since Wood has a 2.79 ERA and is among the leaders with 18 quality starts. However, Wood has one of the lowest run-support averages in the major after 3.26.
The Cubs are hitting well at home. They have then NL-best 72 homers at home. They will need to get the bats moving on Friday since the Dodgers are bringing in one of the best road hitters right now in majors in Hanley Ramirez. The Dodgers shortstop is hitting .383 in 26 games on the road. Ramirez is also hitting well against Wood. In five at-bats, he has two doubles.
