It has been two years since anyone has Terrell Owens on a football field. He attempted to make the Seattle Seahawks last season, but after that was short-lived, Owens has not been seen since. He has been doing a slew of reality television shows and even attempted a shot at professional bowling, but throughout all of that, the itch to play football again remained. As the season is set to begin in just a short few weeks, Owens has reportedly been in talks with "several teams."

According ESPN's Adam Schefter, Owens' agent Jordan Woy has had discussions with multiple teams about the possibility of the veteran wide receiver getting another shot at football. Woy said a few teams are likely to take a look at Owens a little later on in training camp.

"I know if he goes out there and gets a shot, he'll make a team," Woy said. "We've talked to a lot of teams that have said he's a great talent, we're set as of right now, but if we have injuries, we may reach back out."

Woy reports that Owens has been in Florida continuing to train and stay in shape so that he can be ready on the chance that a team calls his number. Now at 39, Owens has appeared in shape during his brief television appearances and even showed flashes of his old self while with the Seahawks. However, inconsistency led to his release before the season began.

Most teams continue to shy away from Owens due to off-the-field issues. Constantly labeled a distraction, Owens cannot shake the weight of his old reputation. The wide receiver has said that if he remains unsigned this year, he will retire from the NFL altogether. He would still hold a nice place in NFL history, sitting second in career yards, just 7,000 shy of Jerry Rice.

So, if multiple teams have been calling Owens' agent, who could they be? Several teams have brought in free agent wide receivers lately for a workout. If unpleased with what they see, Owens could be next. The New York Jets, Miami Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers have all brought in receivers for workouts since training camp began. With only a few quality options available, Owens chances of signing could be better than expected.

Owens last active season in the NFL was 2010. While with the Cincinnati Bengals, Owens racked up 72 catches for 983 yards and nine touchdowns.
