Miami Heat star LeBron James has plenty of things to deal with in the offseason after winning his second straight NBA title and finals MVP and on Thursday he did his civic duty and reported to jury duty like a good American.
According to Pro Basketball Talk, James showed up for jury duty and did his business but was not selected for the case, being sent home with other jurors at 10:30 a.m. and completing his duty as an American. Not even LeBron James could fully get out jury duty, although it was obvious that he wouldn't have to serve. The report from Ohio.com from the Beacon Journal says that James and other jurors were sent home after the two trials did not take place, as one defendant did not appear and the other pleaded guilty.
According to the report: "Citizen James, meanwhile, sat "quietly and appreciatively," Sheriff's Lt. Kandy Fatheree said, in the ground-floor office of a court official who supervises the jury pool in a larger seating area nearby." Sheriff's Lt. Kandy Fatheree said said it was fun to see the reactions of the other jurors when they saw James in the waiting area."
"As soon as he walked in," she said, "I just scanned the room, and everyone knew immediately who he was. It was kind of funny to see the movements of everyone whispering to each other."
"Jury duty time. Time to serve my civic duty,'' James wrote on his Instagram photo account."
