Arsenal Transfer News: Luis Suarez Will Not Be Sold to the Gunners or Any Other Club This Summer, Insists Liverpool Owner Henry

Liverpool owner John W Henry has categorically said Luis Suarez will not be sold to Arsenal or any other club this summer.

Suarez has been agitating for a move away from Anfield, and has made it clear he wants to ply his trade for a club in the Champions League.

The 26-year-old also accused Liverpool of breaking a promise made to him last year about allowing him to leave if a club in the Champions League came calling.

However, both manager Brendan Rodgers and owner Henry have repeatedly said Suarez is not for sale, and that stance does not seem to have changed, despite Suarez going public with his desire to move away from Liverpool.

"We are not going to sell Luis," Henry told various newspapers. "It's very important (not to sell to a rival), but especially for Liverpool because we're not in Europe this year.

"I am unequivocal about this. Even if the bid from Arsenal is increased, we will stick by our guns. That is the situation."

Arsenal have already made a £40 million ($62 million) plus £1 offer to Liverpool thinking that it would trigger a release clause inked into the new contract that Suarez signed last summer.

However, Liverpool have made it clear that it only forces them to let the player know about the bid and nothing more.

"He won't be sold even if a foreign club comes in because we do not have time to sign a suitable replacement," Henry added.

"It's not about finances. So late in the window... we can't replace him. So for football reasons we can't sell, and especially to Arsenal."

Henry is also hopeful Suarez can be reintegrated to the squad after being asked to train alone following his outburst.

"The manager is upset, as he should be, the supporters are upset, Luis is, but that's going to be between those two and his teammates," he said. "We need Luis. Hopefully this will pass."
